Tour of Narayan Seva

Since we have been talking about Narayan Seva and the children that live here we thought we would give you a "tour" of the school.

This is the boys dormitory. It contains 4 sets of bunk beds, a sink, and bathrooms. Unfortunately there are not enough beds for all of the boys so most of them sleep 2 to a bed. When it is too hot to double up some of the boys choose to sleep on the tile floor.

This is the view from the dining area. The building on the left is the main bathroom and shower facility. The middle little hut contains equipment and the structure on the right is just a place to relax in the shade.
This is the kitchen and dining area.

This is a view down the dining area. The building on the left is the main office and Didi's room. The building in the back is the old volunteer rooms that are set to be demolished and re-built.
This is the main building. It contains the kitchen, dining area, office, and Didi's room. The kitchen and dining area are "open air."
This is the back view of the kitchen. This is where the firewood for the stoves is stored as well as the container that collects rainwater.

This is a view of the prayer/meditation hall. The main building is to the left.

This is the prayer/meditation hall where the children meet every morning and every night.

This is the new girls building. It was built using donations and contains 4 bedrooms. Each of the bedrooms contain 4 sets of bunk beds, a sink, and bathroom. This new building is almost already at capacity. The home is starting to use renewable energy sources and has recently installed solar panels on the roof of the girls dorm.

This is a view of the "laundry room." As far as we have been able to see every child has one uniform and 2 sets of clothing. They wear one set of clothes to play in and then wash it during their nightly bath. Then they put on the dry set and repeat the process the next day. When we first arrived we remembered the children based on their clothes...aka "oooh Shiiva is the one with the dinosaur t-shirt." It made remembering them easier because they wear the same clothes every day.
We will add pictures of our "house" when we finally remember to take some picture of it!
